The rental fee includes the garment’s base rental price, and for carts of R2000 and above, two-way delivery is included. Dry cleaning may also be included if the owner chooses to clean the garment themselves.

4. How long is a rental period?

Standard rentals run for 7 days. Longer rentals can be arranged at a pro-rated daily charge, while late returns may result in penalties.

5. What happens if a garment is damaged or returned with an issue?

Sewn uses check-in and check-out photos, receipts, and return confirmations to review disputes fairly. If there is damage or a cleanliness issue, the app reviews the documentation and may withhold payment or apply penalties depending on the outcome.

6. How do Lenders set their rental prices?

Lenders decide their own rental prices based on the garment and its condition. If you are unsure what to charge, you can browse similar listings on the app for guidance.

7. Who is responsible for cleaning the garment?

Lenders are responsible for ensuring their garments are clean before they are sent. Lenders can decide whether they want to dry clean garments once returned or if the Renter will be responsible for dry cleaning. Where the Lender chooses to dry clean the garment themselves, the cleaning fee is included in the rental rate.

8. When do Lenders get paid?

Lenders are paid after the rental period is over. Sewn will deposit funds into the Lender’s account once the garment has been checked in by the Lender. Funds may be held where there is a dispute between the Lender and Renter.
